Biography
When she was a little girl, Zheleti Citali decided she wanted to be a performer.She doesn’t know how her birth parents died, having been little more than a year old when they were taken from her. The Seekers of the Moon who found her and took her in had no clue either, and so for the next few years of her life, she lived as the daughter of a merchant family of middling success. One day, heading between their Ul'dah and their home for more wares for trade and sale, the family’s caravan was set upon by bandits. Not having realized the wagons were mostly empty after a successful time at market, the bandits attempted to ‘convince’ the Miqo'te and their couple of guards to give up the location of what they assumed were secreted wares.It was these attempts that led to their downfall at the hands of a group of adventurers passing by after a hunt, though in the end only Zheleti, hidden in the back of one of the wagons and previously asleep, remained alive.After the death of her foster parents, she was taken in by one of the adventurers that had saved her and his husband. Having lost not one, but two families as a young child to bandits, the young miqo'te decided that she wanted to find a way make things better, brighter for other orphans– both ones that already were and ones that she knew would be. How she planned to do that, however, seemed to change from week to week. Eventually, she settled on some manner of entertainment after having seen more than one person soothed by a performance from a particularly talented artist. From then on, she was always looking for a way to ‘perform’– some days with more success than others.Growing up, ‘home’ to her became where her foster parents were, rather than a particular place. The concept of a stationary place to call such was always strange to her. Nomadic though she was, as her parents got older, they slowly became more sedentary, their forays into adventuring less and less. Despite that, and though her fathers were doting, their lifestyle meant that even as a young woman, she had to learn to defend herself– which meant learning to fight. Eventually, her father instructed her in the bow and, recognizing her talent, bid her to join the Archer’s guild and make a proper adventurer of herself.And so she did, following her father’s advice and heading to Gridania– on the way to which she first heard the call of Hydaelyn.In her journey as Hydaelyn’s chosen, the Warrior of Light became more and more entrenched in the path of an archer and, after some time, once again gave rise to the tradition of the Bard. With her songs ringing now on the battlefield, she felt ever closer to the path she’d once wanted in life… even if she hadn’t exactly intended on becoming such a consummate adventurer. Still, something still felt a bit off, and she continued to try new ways to help people until she came across a young girl in Ul'dah in need of help. Following out of the gates, she watched as X'rhun Tia made short work of the men attempting to kidnap the girl in question’s sister and suddenly felt… inspired. And the more she learned about The Red, the more she thought that this… this would go a longer way to inspiring others on the battlefield than her voice ever could.Though she had never given much thought to magics, she took to casting far better and far more quickly than she’d ever thought she might. With X'rhun’s help and later on Arya as a companion and contemporary, Zheleti fast became an exemplary Red Mage– much more so than she’d ever thought she might be. The sight of the now perpetually scarlet-clad Warrior of Light on the battlefield became a rallying sight for those around her, her fierce and flamboyant spellcasting and bladework a hallmark for her very presence. She had finally become a beacon of the good in the world, a reason for the downtrodden and displaced to feel that there was hope– in her world and, eventually, on another.When she was a little girl, Zheleti Citali decided she wanted to be a performer––and really, what greater role could she possibly play than the Hero everyone expected her to be?

Before the Garleans appeared, Chant grew up in the Golmore jungle, becoming a Wood-Warder and helping to train younger male Viera, as was tradition. And even when the Garleans first attacked, he paid them little mind, caring little for the troubles of those outside The Wood. They would sort themselves out, one way or another, and his people would carry on... or so they thought.But the Garleans were not content to simply subdue the City of Rabanastre- no they expanded out into the rest of the area, includig the jungle.And while the Wood-Warders and other Viera were able to keep the invaders awawy for the most part, there were still... issues. Single viera being ambushed in the wood, children being spotted and ripped from their mentors. While training a couple of his own wards, the youths were discovered by a small contingent of Garlean soldiers, looking for anything to bring back to their command as a prize. The boys got away, he made sure of that- but Chant himself did not.What followed for the next twenty-or-so years was a life of experimentation and being forced to fight monsters or groups of other captives for the amusement of the Garleans.
